We had a text from the school just after 7am to say that they would be closed today, I was still in bed so when the alarm went off at 7.45 I just turned it off and turned over. Munch then came in at 8.30 to ask when we were getting up, how lovely a 3/4 hour lay in. Munch jumped in with us for about 15 minutes before we got up.
Daddy and Munch had bacon sandwiches for breakfast, we then asked Munch to go and play for a while upstairs on his own as this is something he never does and needs lots of encouragement to do, he came down several times during that time to ask if it was time to come down, and he just put the Sky on in our room, I think that I shall be encouraging playing on his own time from now on, but our room will be out-of-bounds.
I had decided to go to a near by shopping centre to do some Christmas shopping, get myself some Wellington’s, and have some lunch. I was getting ready to do so when Munch decided to jump on daddy whilst daddy was holding a hot cup of tea, he was immediately sent to the step for this, Munch did his usual saying, that he hadn’t done anything, daddy really has not got the hang of this step consequence and got up and started arguing back with Munch, instead of the ignoring him bit, Munch is now thriving on this and poked his tongue out at daddy promoting daddy to say, that’s it you’re not going out now, which incensed me because I was not something that Munch wanted to do in particular, it was something that I needed to do, but once said there is no going back.
So daddy has gone to work I am indoors with a little boy who was bouncing of the walls, 2 more step sessions and we are now sitting quietly watching The 12 Dog’s of Christmas on Christmas 24, peace.
Once the film had finished we went to Asda’s to get a few bits and pieces, we had a bite to eat whilst there then grabbed our bits and came home, I was hoping that they might have some Wellington’s and a sledge, but they didn’t.
Back at home we had a drink before putting back on all our warm cloths and going in the garden for half an hours fun in the snow. Munch was really enjoying himself, he did not stop laughing all the time we were out there, when we were to cold and wet for anymore, we came in and I made some lovely hot chocolate, afterwards I prepare dinner, Munch went and played with his Lego until it was done.
We had salmon steaks, with new potatoes, veg and Hollandaise Sauce. Munch had salmon when he fist came and ate the lot, one taste today and he was spitting it out, I mention this because, I spoke to a play therapist at our Agency a few months after Munch came about the fact that when he 1st came he ate absolutely anything we gave him, he was very possessive of food and due to early life experiences, we had to be for our lives watching what he was storing in his room, he wanted to keep sausages under his pillow, and one of the very 1st things he said to us, was that he was never going to be hungry again, anyway after a few months he started to say that he didn’t like somethings, he PT I was talking to said that it was because when he 1st came to us he would have been so shut down that he would not have been able to taste anything, and as he was starting to settle, he was beginning to get his senses back, interesting stuff.
After dinner Munch wanted to play junior Monopoly again, we did this until it was time to get ready for bed, Munch had asked to have a shower in the morning rather than a bath tonight, which I agreed to. He watched his TV for an hour. Had supper, story, snuggle time and his arms massaged with his special cream, unfortunately he was unable to listen when I asked him to not touch the cream, so we stopped at just arms tonight, hug and kiss and now I am about to have a well-earned coffee before tackling some ironing.
