Ouch, That Hurt.

This morning was a much better start to the day than yesterday, Munch came knocking on the door again asking when were we getting up, this needs to be nipped in the bud, so he will be being informed that there will be no TV on school mornings when he does it, I know his answer will be that it doesn’t matter, but a couple of mornings of having to sit at the kitchen table will soon have the desired effect.

Although Munch was lively this morning, the mood that he was in yesterday had definitely lifted thank goodness, as it used to be that type of mood that we knew would escalate into a full-blown, full on meltdown, it could go on for a few day’s before he would blow, so we must be doing something right to have averted it.

We had to defrost the car this morning for the 1st time this year, and having changed my car a couple of months ago to make it more affordable for me not to return to work, I have to say I really missed my heated windscreen that I had on my last few cars, still beggers can’t be choser’s!!!! We got to school early today, Munch lined up and one of the little girls in his class came and stood next to him and held his hand, he had the biggest smile, and so did I after feeling so sad yesterday morning about him never having a partner to walk in with.

We have Munch’s main Christmas prezzie off Santa but apart from a few bits and piece’s had not got a clue what to get him, so me and hubby took ourselves off to Smyths Toy’s Superstore as Munch always refers to it this afternoon, we now have a long list of things to go and get next week.

From there we went to pick up Munch from school, he came out armed with his school photo’s, and even if a say so myself, what a very handsome son I have, off to the car where as both me and daddy were there Munch had to sit in the back. here was a helium balloon in the back from Sunday, on the drive home he kept pushing the balloon into the front of the car making it difficult to see, he was asked to keep it in the back, again he did it, was told again to keep it in the back and if he did not we would stop and get out and walk, well Munch being Munch just had to push it that bit further and push it into the front again, so car was stopped he was taken out of the car kicking and screaming, hubby walked him home whilst I took the car, the last I saw of them was Munch biting daddy’s arm, then shouting help me help me. 7 minutes after I was home I could hear them coming down the road, Munch was still shouting, still hitting, he was sent straight up to his room.

After 10 minutes I called him down so that we could go to the stay and play session at he children’s centre, we were the only ones there so Munch had a great time playing Connect 4, then football and building a very tall tower with the worker there before we went home.

Things were going swimmingly until it was time for tea, as daddy was off again tonight we had decided to take the opportunity to have a chinese after Munch was in bed. I sat at the table whilst Munch was having his dinner, he did no have a civil word to say, he was talking aggressively, kept making very babyish crying noises and was generally being rude, he had a warning and when he did not stop was told  to go and sit on the step, he refused and said he wanted to eat his tea, I was having none of it and was firm and told him step, he then flew at me punching really hard, I told him to go upstairs as I would not be hit, he protested a little, but i think that he realised that he had well overstepped the mark so went up, I called him down after his 7 minutes and he finished his dinner.

I went on the computer for a short while then went to do his bath, all hell broke out when I was upstairs, so I had to come down and sort both of them out, all over 2 sweets!!!

Munch had his bath, daddy did his hair and dried and got him ready for bed, then Munch ran from his room into the spare room and as he did he caught his foot on the meal bit of the Hoover and cut his foot, he was crying and he his foot was bleeding a fair bit, he actually let me hold onto his foot tightly with a towel round it to stop the bleeding, daddy sat next to him and held him, afterwards he took comfort from both of us, daddy carried him downstairs, and I was able to cuddle him on the sofa, such a difference from him not letting us anywhere near him when he has hurt himself before.

Rest of evening went by without a hitch and one happy and content boy is asleep in his bed right now.

SW’s Visit – 17/11

We had a good morning today, I had told Munch the previous evening that his SW was visiting today as it ment that he was unable to stay to film club after school. We had stopped telling him before his SW visited and we normally only tell him now when we pick him up from school when his SW is already here as the first couple of times he visited Munch was awake all night before with pains in his legs. Munch had slept all night so that was good.

We were not only having a visit from Munch’s SW but our SW was coming to as we have our 4th review next week, our SW was coming a bit before so that we could discuss anything we needed to before Munch’s SW arrived. In the mean time we received a phone call from Munch’s school to say that he had really bad nose bleed and what should they do!!!! I explained to them that his was one of Munch’s big trick’s when he is stress about anything, when he was 1st here we used to get up to his bedroom wall looking like a massacure had taken part in his bedroom, he would plaster his walls by his bed in blood, I was a bit annoyed, the fact that we had no leg pains last night, it was his way of showing his stress, person who I was talking to went and spoke to person dealing with Munch and came back and said, no he had not made I bleed himself, to which I said that he is very clever in how he does it,  I have seen him make it pour in front of me on more han one occasions when he has not been able to deal with a situation. They asked me what I wanted to do, he is at school with you what do you want me to do!!!!! Person said that they would speak to the head teacher and phone back, by now Munch’s SW had phoned early to say that he was at the station, so off when daddy to pick him up, our SW then turned up, so not much time to talk to her about anything before the other one turned up, and then the head teacher phoned to say that Munch was looking very pale  so it would be best if we picked him up, this I was not pleased with as giving Munch’s track record I have visions of a nose bleed every time something is happening he is not keen on at school. I told her that I was just waiting for the SW to turn up and we would be there when we could. We took the opportunity to have 10 minutes all together when daddy and SW got back then daddy went and fetched Munch.

Before fetching Munch we managed to talk about his SW applying for more funding for he play therapy and us having our papers ready so that everyone in agreement we can put our papers in to court he very next day, yipee!!!!

Munch and daddy turned up, Munch looked far from pale and put on a great show with his pool table, wanted to wash his nose asap, which they had not been willing to do a school. One very happy to be home child, able to listen to everything that was being said. The good thing that came out of it was that, Munch having been seen by his SW,  off when said SW nice and early, he had booked into a hotel for the night as he always does, so was having a nice early finish.

Sw’s gone, Munch wanted to play with his Lego with daddy, he was very obviously on a Knife edge though after the visit and some of our biggest meltdowns have been post SW visits, he was in one of his contrary moods, and it was obvious that it did not mater what anybody did it was going to be wrong, in the end I just said you are being very rude all the time, it is not allowed, step. He was not happy, banged on the door, made lots of noise for he 1st couple of minutes then just sat on the step. This seemed to regulate him though and he and daddy had a great time with the Lego up until dinner.

After his bath Munch was allowed to have his supper and drink in the living room whilst watching TV for a one-off. Upstairs straight after for story, but Munch, kept interupting and messing around so story book got put away, we then did snuggle time, but when time was up he would not move hen was very hyper and I had to leave the room with hug or kiss, just I good night, I waited for it and a few minutes later got he call fo a hug and a kiss, which I went up and we had. Quiet at last.

Oh Dear!

Yesterday morning from the minute Munch go up he was in a hyper mood going at a 100 miles an hour. He was not to bad just doing everything really quickly.

Later we all got ready and went to the local shopping centre, we went for something to eat, all the time we were out Munch was pushing at the boundaries several times he was asked to do things or not to do things and it would take several times before he would listen. We were going to a shop to get things for Halloween today and a few times I said that if he continued we would not go, on the way to the shop, he kept repeating over and over, please can we go to the —–, I asked him to stop, he carried on, I said that if he carried on we would not go, he carried on whilst laughing, so I said  he had to many chances and that was it we were going home, Munch did not like it at all and at this point I could see we were in for one of his meltdowns, he cried and growled on the way back to the car, he got in and we started off home. When he is in this zone we know that there is no reasoning with him as this just fuels it and we just we have to do to keep him and ourselves safe. Granny though decided that she was to start telling him how if he had listened to mummy and not kept pushing it, Munch by this stage just could not cope with that and hit granny round the head, I had to pull over into a petrol station and get him out of the car, by now he was in his really scary zone where he just cannot control it, I could not let go of him as it was to dangerous, but just holding him by the hand, he was able to hit out, kick, bite, spit so I literally had to get behind him and restrain him. The lady came out from he garage and knocked on the car window to ask if she could do anything. LIKE WHAT!!!!! He eventually seemed to calm so I got him back in the car, only for him to lash out again, so back out of the car we got, I said that we would have to walk home, he was completely out of it, I had to sit at a bus stop and restrain him, it must have taken 1/2 hour to get him to  a calm enough state to get back into the car. He was told that when we got home he was going to his bedroom for a cool down period, if he hit or did anything that he should not the time in the bedroom would be extended, we managed to get home without any incident, and Munch went straight up to his bedroom.

Once up there though he started again, I ended up upstairs with him for a good hour sitting in the door of the bedroom, he threw things at me launch himself at me with his fists and feet on more than one occasion I had to put my hands up to defend myself which sent him reeling back onto he floor, all of which I then got blame for being told that I had done it on perpose!! Eventually I could see that he was trying to regulate himself, so I got him to get his drinks bottle to suck as sucking is very calming. Munch sucked his bottle and then came and sat on my knee and snuggled in whilst sucking on his bottle. Eventually cam was restored 2 hours after meltdown had started.

The rest of the day past without incident, me and daddy made the most of granny being here and had a night out.

Mummy’s Going Out

Today started ok, we had breakfast then went upstairs to get changed. Munch decided to go in and wake daddy even though asked not to and ended up getting counted to 3 so had to do his time-out. We got off  with out a hitch after that.

After school we went to his Express It class, Munch was all over the place there today, was unable to listen and at times very uncooperative.

We went home where Munch played football with daddy then went on the computer before dinner. During dinner Munch again was in one of his moods, he pu loads of tomato sauce on his dinner when asked not to, was putting large pieces of food into his mouth and claiming not to be able to cut them, when I went to help he shouted that I had moved his sauce and then kept pushing food of his plate and crying tha all his food was falling off his plate, he was given a count of 3 and told to go and sit on his chair, at this he exploded, he hit and kicked and was swearing, daddy shouted at him which just makes things worse, I removed him from the kitchen into the living room, the lifted him and carried him to his bedroom and stayed with him until he calmed down, he lay on his bed so I told him to lay there for 5 minutes and calm down. I came downstairs and after 5 minutes called him down to finish his dinner which he did nicely. Then went outside and played with football with daddy.

I was going out to an AUK meeting and had told Reece so on our way home from school, we realised that this is what had triggered his behaviour this evening, it was the change in his routine, or rather the change in person doing his routine, it was different to how it normally happens and Munch finds change really difficult.

After I had gone, the rest of the evening until bedtime went ok, Munch being Munch, tried it on with just about everything by the sounds of it, bet then again, that’s my boy!!!

Holiday Tomorrow

Well, as title says, we are off to Cornwall tomorrow for a week, thats me, Munch, granny and cousin. Daddy is staying home with the dogs. We have done lots of talking about it so watch this space.
Munch has just finished his 4 day football school which he has really enjoyed and was very pleased to recieve a medal at the end of it.
We have had a mixed time of it since last post, we have had some really heavy meltdown’s especially after my night away, followed by some really lovely settled periods, still with his little quirky way’s, but hay we cannot have it all!!!!
Our last 2 meltdowns have been post SW visits, the last being our 3rd review. We have said that until we have funding in place for play therapy for Munch we will not apply for our Adoption Order as we feel we owe it to him to fight his corner to get him the help he needs.
Will post again after our holiday.
